Place of employment: Pacific branch of the Russian Federal Research Institute of Fisheries and oceanography
In 1959-1968, during the era of the expansion of the Soviet active marine and oceanic fishing, he participated (including as an expedition leader) in the search and study of new objects and areas of domestic fishing in the Far Eastern seas, as well as in the waters of the New Zealand plateau and the Australian shelf and the deep dump. In 1969-1977, he was the head of the section of the TINRO thematic plan for the study of fish resources of oceanic underwater ridges of the Pacific Ocean. In 1980, He founded and organized an ecosystem study of biological resources of the Far Eastern Economic Zone of Russia on the basis of the laboratory of applied biocenology created in TINRO. As a result of a series of complex expeditions, the existing estimates of the bio - and fish productivity of Russian waters were significantly raised (which eventually reflected a significant increase in commercial catch). Since 1991, special attention has been paid to the study of the marine life period of salmon when planning ecosystem studies of bioresources. These studies were carried out already in the early 2000s. We raised the international authority of Russia to the recognition of its absolute leadership among the countries that are members of the NPAFC. This leadership is still maintained, which was confirmed by international ocean research in the year of salmon in 2019.
