A. V. Dolgov organized large-scale studies of the nutrition and trophic relationships of fish in the Barents Sea and then other areas of the Arctic and North Atlantic. With his participation and subsequently under his leadership, in cooperation with Norwegian scientists from the Bergen Institute for Marine Research, a unique database of long-term data on the nutrition of hydrobionts of the Barents Sea (since 1986) was created, containing information on the nutrition of more than 500 thousand fish of more than 40 species, which is used to develop mathematical models of the Barents Sea ecosystem and to assess the values of stocks and possible total allowable catch of the Barents Sea commercial hydrobionts. He organized studies of fish communities in the Barents Sea and other areas of the Arctic and North Atlantic. He has prepared several fish determinants - "Atlas-determinant of fish of the Barents Sea" (2011 and 2012), "Atlas-determinant of fish of the Kara Sea" (2018), " Marine Fishes of the Arctic Region "(2018)
