Specialist in the field of commercial ichthyology, researcher of fishing in the seas of Russia.

He was a member of the Russian delegation:

- at the negotiations on fisheries: between Russia and Poland - in 1995, between Russia and the Republic of Korea - in 1997;
- at the International Conference on Fisheries in the Open Part of the Sea of Okhotsk – in 1995;
- at the annual meetings of the participating countries of the Convention on the Conservation and Management of Pollock Resources in the Central Bering Sea (CCBSP) in 1996, 1998, 2002.
- at the annual meeting of the Russian-American Advisory Commission on Fisheries in the Bering Sea - in 2003.

Research interests: aquatic biological resources of the north-western part of the Pacific Ocean and the southern seas of Russia. Studies of the biology and dynamics of fish numbers, the influence of climatic factors and fishing on the state of fish stocks.
